Tips to Buy a Car as a Woman

Women Choose Their Cars in Different Ways Than Men

Everyone's lifestyle becomes a determining factor in choosing and buying a car. The number of passengers, the daily use required, the cost of car maintenance, and taste, are the elements that go into consideration, which car is the most suitable. In addition to guarantees and security measures, which of course are indispensable.

Woman Buy A Car in Dealer

The truth is that women are more careful about driving things. Statistically, they were involved in fewer accidents than men.
Car manufacturers market a lot to men, but the truth is, women are the main influencers when it comes to buying a car.
A study by auto industry analyst Polk found that 39% of all new vehicles are registered for Females. Women buy 52% of all new cars (self-driving or with family,) and influence 85% of all car buying decisions, according to Woman Motorist, an online magazine.

Discrimination When Buying a Vehicle

Road and Travel Magazine says women are buying more cars than men – in fact, women buy 65% of new vehicles. However, many car dealers don't realize that the majority of their customers are women as financial decision-makers.

Many women share their experiences of pushy salespeople, and treat them as though they understand nothing; others said their male family members were treated very differently at car dealerships.
For women who are considered "minority", stereotypes by car sellers, higher price markups, and interest rates on car loans are not unusual.

Unfortunately, there are still many people who assume females are less knowledgeable about autos or don’t care about technical features.
This is in direct conflict with the trend of car buying. A study on car preferences discovers that males are more likely to buy luxury brands and stylish cars, while women are more drawn to affordable, safe, and reliable cars. (cjponyparts.com)

So when a woman comes to buy a car, what is she looking for? Here are several traits that women seek when shopping for a new car.

The Design of The Car

When it comes to choosing a new car, women prefer the model of the car over the color, or the type of engine. Unlike men who are attracted to the mechanical factor, women are more interested in the overall silhouette of the car. Among the vehicle models that work well on women, we find the Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, or Newbeattle which have a more feminine cut.

Safety features

A recent study from CNW Research found that safety features are the top priority in car buying for women. Four of the top five attributes that are most important are related to safety:

- rear visibility,

- front visibility,

- remote outside rearview mirror, and

- side airbags.

Otherwise, only one safety feature (front visibility) will make it to the male buyer list; concerns such as horsepower, style, and engine design receive the highest priority among men

The Internal Arrangement of The Car

Women may pay attention to the outside of their vehicles, women do not forget about the interior layout. They always prepare a car that meets their needs: they make sure to have enough space for car seats for the kids. The practical aspect of the car is more necessary for women than for men, who respond more to the logic of road behavior (highways, cities, etc.).

Indoors, Outdoors

Women are more likely to be caregivers, both for children and the elderly. Consider how you are going to get them into the car. The door must be wide enough, and the opening must be high enough. If your kids are too young to fasten their seatbelts, make sure you can reach them. This is especially important in a three-row SUV, where it can be difficult to push it back, to tie it up.

Speaking of child and third-row seats, assess how long you plan to keep your vehicle. Lots of tight, narrow third rows. They may be fine for your little ones now, but the kids will grow up, and the chair won't. Make sure your whole family will be comfortable as long as you have a car.

Know How You Will Pay for The Car Before You Fall in Love With It

Talk to a credit union or bank, get pre-qualified, and then stay below your max budget. It helps to know not only what you can afford, but what credit score you’re working with to specify whether you’ll get a great interest rate for auto financing. Bringing along a copy of a recent pay stub to help you qualify for car financing.

Buying a car can take the unexpected, but remaining confident, smart, and transparent about what you're looking for can go a long way. Keep in mind, you’re in the driver’s seat of your car-buying journey, and your car should be purchased entirely on your terms and conditions.

Know How to Say “No”
If you're not getting what you want, be prepared to just walk away.
This is not the time to be trying to make friends, or not hurt anyone's feelings. The car dealer will be fine. It's about sticking to what you need, and getting or spending money on what you need, nothing more.

Be proud of yourself for not accepting something you don't approve of. There are plenty of other cars, and better car-buying deals out there. You also don't have to feel like you're on the defensive when you go to a car-buying dealership in order not to be taken advantage of.
